After participating at the largest ever Dutch Economic Trade Mission to Switzerland (9-11 Sep 2025), we continued our travel through the Alps and arrived at Innsbruck, Austria. We participated at the Breath Summit 2025 conference (IABR-2025), chaired by prof. Chris Mayhew, where the global community of academic and industrial stakeholders gather discussing the latest progress on Breath Analysis research and medical diagnostics for diseases like cancer.

2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the International Association of Breath Research, which took place at Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna, Austria on the 30th May 2005. The Breath Summit 2025 conference takes place in Innsbruck within the Centre for Chemistry and Biomedicine, University of Innsbruck, from 14-19 September 2025. The Breath Summit 2025 is hosted by the Institute for Breath Research, which is part of the University of Innsbruck.

At this conference MassSpecpecD BV introduces the novel ultrafast laser-based direct Mass Spectrometry - PhotoElectron Circular Dichroism technology for the measurement of Enantiomeric Excess of multicomponent headspace (chiral) molecular samples. The MS-PECD technology is of relevance for the Flavor&Fragrance&Food, the Pharmaceutical and the Agrochemical Industries, that all use chiral molecules in their products. Furthermore, novel applications of chiral molecular analysis are of relevance in (early) disease diagnostics, like in breath analysis.

As (many) molecules in breath are chiral molecules, our novel chiral MS-PECD technology will have great potential opening up the diagnostics to Chiral analysis of Breath biopsies, providing direct links with metabolomic pathways of chiral molecules produced in humans. E.g. the chiral molecule Limonene was mentioned already multiple times in lectures as a biomarker molecule of interest in breath analysis for (early) disease diagnostics (like in liver diseases in adults and children) during the first full conference day on Monday, 15 Sep 2025.

We are also participating as a company sponsor of Breath Summit 2025, which was opened on Sunday 14 Sep 2025 with a special afternoon openings session with lectures on the founding and 20 year history of the International Association of Breath Research, located in Innsbruck, and special lectures of two life time Anton Amann award recipients honored at this year's conference, prof. Christina E. Davis (University of California at Davis) and prof. Joachim D. Pleil (US EPA , Gillings School of Global Public Health), and music!
